Frequently Asked Wedding Ceremony Questions

How far in advance should I confirm a wedding officiate?

Many Weddings are planned up to a year in advance. Many Weddings are planned in a few months or a few weeks, while others in only a couple of days. I suggest, that as soon as you and your fiancée have chosen a date, that would be the time to book the Minister.

What about last minute requests?

As long as there is room in the schedule, last minute requests are fine. There are often circumstances that require last minute planning. Be sure to give me a call before you book your location so that I can share with you any experience I may have there.

Will you marry couples of different faiths or previously divorced?

Yes. Marriage is a divine institution ordained by God for all men and women. I require that you love each other and have a desire to be married. I will not refuse any couple (a man and a woman) the right to be married, regardless of one's past, race, color, religion, or denominational background. I do not encourage divorce, but I do understand things do and can happen in marriages. I count it as a joy to help couples move from their past into a new beginning, that marriage can offer. I believe our God is the God of many chances.

Can we have a non-religious, spiritual ceremony?

This is your choice. Many prefer a "spiritual" and not "religious" ceremony.

What is the most important thing to the Wedding Party and the Guests,
     besides the Wedding ceremony?
Surveys have shown, most guests consider the reception, the food and especially the Wedding cake, to be top priority at a Wedding. A Wedding cake is absolutely essential to a reception and may be any flavor, color, or shape you wish. You should expect about 80% of your Wedding guests to eat Wedding cake. The kinds of cakes that modern Brides serve, do not lend themselves to being kept at room temperature for a year, nor do they freeze longer than 6 months.

Can we include elements of different religions and religious traditions in our ceremony?

Yes! These make for interesting, rich, meaningful ceremonies. I work with you and your various traditions to put together a ceremony that truly reflects your wishes.

What kind of pre-wedding counseling is required, if any

No pre-wedding counseling is required, but if the bride and/or groom would like counseling, I will make myself available.

Does it matter that either of us have been married before, divorced, have children or are already privately married and want to conduct a public ceremony ?

No. And if you have kids, how awesome! We have meaningful ways to include them in the ceremony. And you've been privately married previously, we'll keep it just between us.

Can we write our own vows?

Absolutely. Many couples choose to write their own vows or some may amend existing religious Wedding ceremonies with their own words. Others leave the Wedding vows to the Ministers discretion. I suggest, if you are going to write your own vows:

1.) The shorter the better.

2.) Don't include everything.

3.) Be positive.

4.) Have a help sheet.

Can I make changes to the example ceremony?

Yes, just copy and paste the text of sample ceremonies and edit in your word processing software.

How is booking handled?

You are booked when we receive the $100 deposit and the booking agreement form. The balance, if any,  is paid at least two weeks in advance of the scheduled wedding.

How do we get our wedding license?
Contact the County Clerk office of the Texas county you are to be married in.  Texas marriage licenses are valid in all counties regardless of the county where the license was issued.
