Hurricane Ike Relocates Wedding from Galveston, TX to Wichita, KS

Houston, TX, 09/27/2008 – A wedding originally scheduled today at the historical 1859 St. Joseph Church in Galveston, Texas is relocated to the Kansas Aviation Museum in Wichita, Kansas.  After Hurricane Ike devastated Galveston Island on September 14, 2008, Patrick Mannen and Serina McEntire were forced to quickly change the venue for their wedding.  Minister Paul House of Houston, Texas is arriving in Wichita Saturday morning to officiate the ceremony Saturday evening.

Patrick Mannen and Serina McEntire will be married at the Kansas Aviation Museum Saturday evening, September 27, 2008 at 6:00 PM.  After the loss of their own homes during this storm, they were overwhelmed with the details involved in changing their venue while dealing with the difficulties of no home, no electricity, sporadic phone service, and no internet service.  The Bride, Serina McEntire, depended on help from her mother Andy and sister Kassie to take care of the details involved in re-planning the wedding.  Serina has been upbeat about their situation by saying, “Since many of us are out of work and homeless for an unidentified time, sounds like it’s the perfect time for a PARTY!”  Minister House will arrive Saturday morning, September 27, 2008 on Northwest Airlines Flight 5901 at 10:55 AM. Minister House says, “Witnessing the destruction caused by Hurricane Ike, it was a blessing to see how the communities of Southeast Texas pulled together to help each other in a neighborly fashion. The least I could do was to offer to make the trip to Wichita to officiate”
